2013 NASH Cup – Saturday Schedule

The WSA final started late last night as both PSA matches went beyond their 60 minutes schedule…even with the first match being cut short due to injury. Shahier Razik (CAN; 50) spent 65 minutes showing that experience mattered as he battled the tournament’s top seed Joe Lee(ENG; 37). Unfortunately an injury at 5-5 (down 2-1) in the 4th ended the battle.

While “physical” is the right descriptive for the second match between Ben Coleman (ENG; 85) and Shawn Delierre (CAN; 38), it doesn’t really do justice to the 101 minute spectacle. The ref’s were tested, and the crowd was treated to some incredible rallies.

The WSA final was closer than the score. Milou Van Der Heijden (NED; 52) knew what she needed to do to beat Maria Toorpakai Wazir (PAK; 55) but came up just short. She lead 10-6 in the first game, but fell 13-11 as Maria turned up the power and gained control of the court. A rally in the third game just wasn’t to be, and Maria took the first NASH Cup WSA Championship in 3 (13-11; 11-3; 11-9)
