Get to Know… The 2015 NASH Cup Rookies

 

Diego EliasDiego Elias

Precocious Peruvian Diego Elias (age 19; ranks 37) is one of the most gifted youngsters on the PSA World Tour and looks set for an exciting career.

After joining the PSA World Tour in May 2013, Elias would lift his first title a year later at the Regatas Resistencia Open-Tour De Las Americas where he stunned the crowd despite being a Wildcard for the event. In doing so, Elias became the first Peruvian to win a PSA World Tour title.

Three months later he claimed the distinction of becoming the first Peruvian to become the World Junior Champion after he failed to drop a single game during the event and defeated Omar Elatmas in the final.

The following month he doubled his PSA World Tour title tally as he lifted the Salt Lake City Open and in December 2014 he broke the world’s top 50.

He captured his first ever PSA Challenger 15 crown at the Costa Rica Open with a straight games win over Alan Clyne in the final in June 2015 to cap an excellent 2014/15 season for the teenage sensation.

From the NASH Cup Diego will move on to the NetSuite Open in San Francisco. Then it will be the Delaware Investments US Open on October 8th and the PSA Men’s World Championships on November 13th.

 


 

Henrik MustonenHenrik Mustonen

Henrik Mustonen (Age 24; rank 58) is one of the greatest Finnish players of this generation and has battled for supremacy with compatriot Olli Tuominen in recent years.

After winning his first PSA World Tour title at the Austrian Open in 2009, Mustonen went on to lift further titles at the Leinster Open in 2010 and the Racquet Club Invitational a year later, stunning Mathieu Castagnet in the latter’s final.

A four-year title-drought would then follow for the Fin, despite a notable quarter-final finish at the Finnish Open in February 2015 but he lost out on home-soil to Declan James.

Henrik has a very busy fall ahead of him with tournaments just about every week through the end of November. On top of the NetSuite; Delaware and World Championships Henrik will play in Salt Lake City; Weybridge England; St. Louis; and Qatar.

 

 


 

Kristian Frost OlesenKristian Frost Olesen

Danish No.1 Kristian Frost Olesen reached his first PSA World Tour final at the 2009 Tour de las Americas Peru Open but would have to wait two years before he could pick up his maiden crown which came at the Pilatus Cup.

He won three consecutive PSA World Tour titles in the 2011/12 season with his fifth career title coming at the Sekisui Open.

A smattering of titles came his way over the next few years with his 10th being lifted at the Squash Promotion Group & Heroes Open with a fantastic victory over Jan Koukal in the final.

He rounded off a successful 2014/15 campaign by triumphing at the Gibraltar Open.

From the NASH Cup Kristian will finish September at the $15K Grays Norwegian Open and then play at the $25K in Weybridge England with Henrik Mustonen before continuing to the PSA Men’s World Championships in November.
