The NASH Cup has been going for 18 years. Every year the tournament evolves and aims to be better than the one before. Thanks to massive preparation; support; innovation and flexibility this past week brought out the best in everyone involved and was an amazing experience. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this happen. To call it a community effort is an understatement. Our modest club at London Squash & Fitness sets the standard.
The Champions:
NASH Cup Men – Joachim Chuah (MYS) def David Baillargeon (CAN) 3-1 – 11-6; 11-3; 7-11; 11-1 (41m)
*This was Joachim’s first PSA World Tour title. He entered the tournament ranked 90th in the world and is expected to jump to #63 tomorrow. As a former member of 2026 champion Trinity College, he was a competitor of western squash, but also a good friend (as the picture below shows)
NASH Cup Women – [4] Rowan Elaraby (EGY) def Yasshmita Jadishkumar (MYS) 3-1 – 9-11; 11-9; 11-3; 11-4 (39m)
* Rowan has been ranked as high as 7th in the world. This was her first tour titles since 2022 and showed that her recovery from injury is complete. She was the only seeded player to make the finals coming into the NASH Cup ranked #47 in the world.
Jack Fairs Open – [2] Youssef Taha def [3] Abbas Nawaz 3-1 – 11-4; 11-9; 8-11; 11-6 (45m)
* Youssef is a new member of the western men’s squash team. Fresh from Calgary this was an amazing way to start his western experience on a team, led by coach Chris Hanebury working toward it’s 42 consecutive OUA Championship. They enter the 2026 season ranked #19 in the American CSA. Youssef is a member of Squash Canada’s NexGen Squad and was ranked 342nd in the PSA – his rank will jump next week. This was his first PSA title and should propel him into the top 300. He is pictured below with Peggy Fairs whose husband Jack – the long-time coach of westerns legendary squash program – the tournament is named for.

- A – Eggert Madison (North Bay) def Gabriel Platt (Kitchener) 3-0 – 11-1; 11-8, 11-7
- B – Johnny Potmesil (Toronto) def Jeremiah Rusnyak (London) 3-1 – 14-12; 11-5; 4-11; 11-2
- C – Ethan Yoo (London) def Owen Lu (London) 3-0 – 11-8; 16-14; 11-7
- D – Champion Adam Keller ; 2nd Greg Clarke (London); 3rd Alez Drozd (London)
The NASH Cup works closely with the Professional Squash Association (PSA); Squash Canada & Squash Ontario to provide one of the best venues and experience for its participants. The event features sold out crowds from the first night and provides players with a physical spectator experience that is both unique and exhilarating. Participating players represented 22 countries (listed below) and fans came from all across the region – Toronto; Hamilton Godrich; & Detroit.
Billets – Housing 48+ participants is a massive commitment, and we rise to the challenge every year (Thank you Phill and Tyrrel). The players love their experience in London, and you are a huge part of it.
Committee – Incredible work. So many of the jobs go unseen but are critical to a successful event. Things like Physio (Lorie) and driving (Trevor) enhance the player experience tremendously. Preparations for 2027 have already begun….
London Squash – Thank you to Jeff; Chris; Jack and the whole team. Thank you to the membership for allowing a break in routine and providing the courts.
Broadcasting and Social – Paragraphs could be written here. Thank you Jess for all of the added social media work. Our reach in 2026 broke all records. Spectators – For the past 18 years the NASH Cup has featured full stands. It enhances the experience within the club and for the players.
Athletes – Thank you for making London Squash and the NASH Cup a destination of choice at the start of the season.
And finally – Sponsors – We honestly can not do this without you – Nearly $70K USD in prize money was provided this week and the vast majority comes from sponsorship. Thank you to everyone who supports both directly and in alliance with Squash Ontario & Squash Canada. This tournament has a material impact on Canadian players and our nations efforts to prepare for the 2028 Olympics (a first for squash).
As we wrap up the 2026 event, and look to 2027, we invite all participants to provide feedback.
