NASH Cup Semi Finals

July Update

Yes…we skipped the June update. But not much had changed up until two weeks ago. The arrival of Phase 3 in Ontario and a confirmed timeline for Canadian border re-opening means the 13th NASH Cup will be an international affair with spectators!

The Players – Both the men’s and women’s draws are getting strong. Entries will close on August 17th. This is later than usual but was necessary to allow for global travel restrictions to become easier.

  • Travel – The Canadian Government has announced that our border will open to fully vaccinated individuals August 9th (United States) and September 7th (International)
  • Vaccines – Given the travel restrictions and for the safety of our players we will be requesting that only those who are fully vaccinated participate in the 2021 NASH Cup as players or spectators.
  • Entries – Things will change over the next 4 weeks, but there are currently 6 top 100 men, and 8 top 100 women in the draws. Past years would suggest that the names will change over coming weeks, but that this level of entry is what we can expect. Some great returning names and lots of new players in the mix including nine Canadians, and seven U-19 entries. If things don’t change, we would also see our first players from Poland and Romania.

Spectators and Seating – We expect Ontario to remain in Phase 3 through the event dates. At this level London Squash is restricted to 50% capacity (64 people). There are also restrictions on the number of spectators who can be seated. Live viewing will be at a premium and ALL covid protocols will need to be strictly followed.

Tickets – A very limited number of seats will be available once capacity limits have been finalized and sponsor seats assigned. The intent is to have 2 seating periods during the opening 3 rounds and 1 seating for the semis and finals. Pricing will be $50 for the half evenings and $100 for the full. As in past years all matches will be broadcast for free through www.nashcup.com. The camera system has been upgraded for 2021.

Billets – The tournament has been registered without an expectation of billet spaces but as of today we allowed to adjust this. Many LSFC members are double vaccinated and the requirement that incoming professionals are tested and vaccinated has many inquiring about hosting. We thank those who have already confirmed their willingness to host a player and invite others to reach out to Phill Stables and Trevor Tyson. As in past years those who billet will have a seat set aside for them to watch their players matches…..those are some valuable seats The ability to stay for additional games cannot be guaranteed.

The NASH Cup has been a grass roots effort since its 2008 launch – volunteer run & not-for-profit. The tournament’s success is driven by the members of London Squash & Fitness; dedicated sponsors; and an incredible volunteer committee. New sponsors are always welcome.
