Nashcup Local Squash 2023 Windsor Cup

World Tour Event and Windsor 2023 Cup Begins

Eltorgman Beats World #56 at World Tour Event and Windsor 2023 Cup Begins

Squash is often thought of as a winter sport, but Canada’s new largest pro event is taking place right now at Devonshire Mall in Windsor.

Squash Canada’s glass court has been set up with 3 separate PSA events taking place. Rising Canadian players dominate the Women’s Challenger 10 and Men’s Challenger 5 draws….but it’s the Men’s PSA World Tour Bronze event featuring a $52,500 USD purse that has the big names. 22 players are in the world’s top 70 with world #7 – Tarek Momen of Egypt – leading the pack.

There was a big upset last night and here is the release that went to London Squash members this morning (I love when somebody else does the writing).

BIG news out of Windsor last night!

London Squash Member Salah Eltorgman, who is currently ranked #190 in the world and plays in the #1 spot for the Western Men’s Varsity Squash Team, defeated world #56 Rui Soares of Portugal in 5 games at the $52,500 USD PSA World Tour event, the Windsor Cup!

Salah moves on to play current world #12 Youssef Soliman of Egypt today at 6:15pm.

The Windsor Cup is streaming on Youtube and you can watch today’s matches by visiting windsorcup.com and clicking on Live Stream. LSRC Members and Western Team players Taylor Carrick and Mitch Kahnert are playing in the $6000 PSA Challenger Tour which is also in Windsor, today at 3:30pm and 6:15pm respectively.

Let’s all cheer on our fellow London Squash Members as they take on some of the world’s best!

Salah will gain at least 130 rankings points by making it to the second round which stands to move him from 190th in the world to about 130th.

A rematch between Rui Soares and Salah Eltorgman at the NASH Cup is possible, but both would need to make the Semi’s (for Salah this would mean beating the 2nd and 5th seeds….#44 and #55 in the world).

The total field of 72 players in Windsor (24 per event) includes 9 men and 4 women who will be competing in the NASH Cup September 19-23rd.
